Communications

The Northern Health Strategy Working Group believes is important that communication initiatives continue as the collaborative develops. The Northern Health Strategy is still very much in its initial phases and a lot of progress has been made over a short period of time. Many working relationships have been established and partnerships have been created that are unique in Canada.  The Northern Health Strategy may be looked at for its innovative efforts and successes, and there is value in recording and sharing the group’s experiences.

It is essential that the Northern Health Strategy have effective communications between its members and with external sources. Positive and effective communication has an influence on many different levels, including awareness and understanding, funding, and lobbying and advocacy to advance healthy public policy.

The NHS facilitates the flow of information regarding Northern Health Strategy to and from all partners including:

•    Northern Health Strategy members;
•    Northern Health Strategy Leadership–Member Boards;
•    Co-operating non-health agencies such as educational, justice, social services, economic development, and environmental agencies that influence the (w)holistic health of the residents of northern Saskatchewan;
•    Community and municipal leaders across northern Saskatchewan;
•    Saskatchewan Universities, Colleges, and Technical Institutes that train and support health professionals;
•    Provincial Health Department officials and ministers;
•    Federal Health Department officials and ministers; and,
•    The general public–northern Saskatchewan in particular
