The Northern Health Strategy Working Group has deemed community development essential to health improvement in the north. As a result, they have launched a northern community consultative process and literature review to assist those members of Northern Health Strategy who wish to improve the various determinants of health through community development. NHS continues to seek and assemble resources for health northern partners and northern communities, in support of community development programs.

In partnership with Northern Lights School Division, a north wide community development conference occurred in early summer 2009.
