Former Keewatin Yatthé CEO joins Northern Health Strategy
Prince Albert, Sask., January 16, 2008 -Carol Gillis, who recently left her position as Chief Executive Officer at Keewatin Yatthé Regional Health Authority, has accepted a role in the Northern Health Strategy.
“We are very pleased that Carol has decided to assist in building solutions to common health challenges across all northern health jurisdictions”, says Northern Health Strategy Coordinator Nap Gardiner. “Although she will be concentrating with helping to create strength in Chronic Disease Management and prevention, we will certainly use her vast experience and knowledge in many areas of the health sector,” adds Gardiner.
Ms. Gillis will provide special attention to helping to build the Northern Chronic Care Coalition.
The Coalition was created by the Northern Health Strategy to strengthen Chronic Disease Management, Patient Self Management, and offering community development capacity to assist individuals on how best to deal with their conditions. Health promotion and prevention will also be part of the initiative. Diabetes is the prevalent chronic disease in many northern and aboriginal communities.
The Northern Chronic Care Coalition intends to reach out to health providers, organizations, businesses, group, and individuals to work together to deal with the growing concern of chronic diseases in northern communities.
The Northern Health Strategy is a partnership of all health jurisdictions. These groups are:
